Ecoplans Limited's landscape architecture group has been working in conjunction with MRC engineers and NORR Limited architects on the revitalization plans for the Blue Water Bridge boarder crossing in Point Edward. Our landscape architects have been retained to update the preliminarily landscape master plan as well as provide detailed design for Phase 1 of the plaza improvements.
The concept for the plaza is based on the Lake Huron shoreline; the landscape aims to evoke the coastal dune imagery of the region by creating a rolling topography planted with a series of grasses which will provide movement and texture to the landscape.
Phase 1 of the improvements aims to be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System accredited. LEED promotes a whole-building/site approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in key areas of human and environmental health such as sustainable site development, water savings, and energy efficiency.
